Privacy Policy

Brain Spark is a mathematics learning service for Caribbean primary-school children. Because our learners are children, we hold ourselves to a high standard: a parent or guardian sets up every child account, and we collect the minimum information needed to teach and to report progress. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

1. Who provides the data

A parent, guardian, or teacher creates each child account. Children do not register themselves. The adult who creates an account confirms they are 18 or older and that they consent to the child using the service.

2. What we collect

From the adult: name, email address, country, and (optionally) a phone number if you opt in to WhatsApp updates.

About the child: first name or display name, grade, age, and the child's answers and progress as they practise. You may optionally provide additional profile details; these are never required to use the service.

Automatically: basic usage and device information, and an approximate location (country level) derived from the network address. We do not store precise location against a child's account.

3. How we use it

  • To deliver lessons and adapt them to the child's level.
  • To show parents and teachers progress and reports.
  • To keep accounts secure and prevent abuse.
  • To send service messages you have asked for (for example, a report link).

We do not sell personal information, and we do not show third-party advertising to children.

4. Parental consent

We rely on the consent of a parent or guardian to collect and use a child's information. You give this consent when you create the child's account, and you can withdraw it at any time by deleting the child's account (see section 7).

5. Who we share it with

We share limited data only with service providers who help us run Brain Spark, under contract and only for that purpose:

  • AI hints and feedback: a child's question and their answer may be sent to our AI provider to generate a tutoring hint. We do not send the child's name to the AI provider.
  • Voice (text-to-speech): lesson text is converted to audio.
  • Messaging: if you opt in, we use WhatsApp/email providers to send you updates.
  • Payments: handled by a PCI-compliant payment processor. We never store full card numbers.

6. How long we keep it

We keep account data while the account is active. Inactive learner data is removed after an extended dormancy period, marketing enquiries are removed after 180 days, and usage analytics after 12 months. Shared report links expire automatically.

7. Your rights: access and deletion

You can request a copy of your child's data or delete it at any time. Within the app, a parent can export or delete a child's account from the child's settings. Deletion permanently removes the child's personal information and practice history. You can also email us using the address below.

8. Security

We protect data with encryption in transit, hashed passwords, access controls, and regular backups. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your family's information safe.
