What is an obtuse angle?

An angle bigger than a square corner but less than a straight line.

For example

The hands of a clock at 4 o'clock make an obtuse angle.

In Grade 5

Children sort the angles that are bigger than a square corner but less than a straight line.

Watch out for

Children often call any large angle obtuse. Past a straight line it becomes a reflex angle instead.
