Grade 1

What does it mean to order?

order

To put things from smallest to largest, or largest to smallest.

For example

Order the children by height, shortest first, before the class photo.

In Grade 1

Children line up real objects by size before they order written numbers on a track or a line.

Watch out for

Children often order by what looks longest rather than by measuring. Line the ends up at the same start before comparing.

Say it at home

Line up spoons or shoes and ask your child to put them smallest to largest.
